Karsyn is a 10 year old who loves sports and gaming. He loves playing on our local teams for Tackle Football and Basketball. On March 22, 2025, after not feeling well for a little while, Karsyn was Diagnosed with B-ALL, B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer. The specific genetics of his Leukemia make treatment more difficult. Karsyn’s 10th birthday was 2 days after diagnosis, which he spent having surgery and starting chemo while in PICU at Sanford Children’s in Sioux Falls. He spent much time in and out of the hospital and also having continuous chemo treatments throughout April and May. After complications from chemo and resistance to treatment, his team felt it best to do a special immunotherapy treatment offered at the U of M Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital in the cities. In July, Karsyn spent about 6 weeks living in the cities for this treatment which he tolerated well. Unfortunately, it failed in October. Both of Karsyn’s teams of doctors advised the best option would be a Bone Marrow Transplant. His teams had already begun this conversation back in June, and tested his siblings, learning his oldest brother, Kaedin, is a perfect match to be a donor, and he’s willing to be Karsyn’s donor. The boys will begin this journey for Transplant in November, and Karsyn will need to stay in the hospital for 6 weeks, and then stay close to the hospital until day 100 after his transplant to be monitored closely, this is roughly 4 months living in the cities for his transplant. He will have to do school remotely when able during this time, and likely afterwards. He will have long term monitoring from his teams afterwards as well. We appreciate all thoughts and prayers as this journey continues for Karsyn and his 3 siblings.
Any donations will go to Karsyn and his needs. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity and love for Karsyn. You can keep up to date on his story and progress on his caringbridge site. https://www.caringbridge.org/site/b9f587fc-0830-11f0-92e7-b9c0bf1db9b6
