Support Karsen Cooksey's Journey to Healing

The family and friends of Karsen Cooksey are raising funds to help with the medical and housing expenses for out of state treatment which is not covered by insurance.

Karsen Cooksey is an incredible 16 year old athlete who has always had a deep love for all things sports. She is a light to everyone she meets and her positive attitude and determinations has inspired all those around her.

However, this past summer, Karsen's life took a turn when she tore her medial meniscus while playing soccer. What was meant to be a routine surgery to repair the tear, unfortunately went wrong, leading to nerve damage and constant, unrelenting pain. She sadly had to undergo a second surgery. Despite consulting numerous doctors and therapist over the past 7 months, Karsen is still unable to walk without enduring intense pain and shaking. She is experiencing severe clonus (involuntary muscle contractions) in her leg which now causes other parts of her body to shake daily. Additionally, she has recently developed gastrointestinal issues and gallbladder complications, making it difficult to eat.

But, Karsen is not giving up! With much prayer, research and unwavering faith, Karsen and her family have found hope at the Pascal Health Institute in North Carolina. There, Dr. Pascal who specializes in neurological, physical and nerve conditions will work with Karsen to receive the comprehensive care she so desperately needs. This journey will require Karsen and her family to temporarily stay in North Carolina for her treatment which will begin at the end of April. It is a 12 week head to toe program where she will be treated for many hours everyday. However, the institute does not accept insurance, and the cost for the care alone will be approximately $50,000.00. This does not include travel, housing or food expenses for the family that will be taking turns going back and forth to be with her around the clock.

We are reaching out to friends, family and this kind-hearted community to ask first for prayer as we know He is able! Your generous donations will help offset the cost of her treatments in North Carolina. Every dollar raised will go directly toward providing the hope and care Karsen will need as we watch her heal and regain her thriving quality of life. We know that Karsen is a fighter-she has shown so much strength and courage in the midst of all the suffering. We trust that the Lord is fighting her battles and He already knows the end of her story. Karsen and her parents have always been the type of people who lift other up in time of need - now it's our turn to do the same for them.
