A former Apparel Tech designer, Karl (Kajomo) Moritz faced the ultimate life change when he was commuting home from work on his bicycle in 2010 and was hit head on by a car at 35mph.  After a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and five weeks in a coma, he was faced with the reality that Western medicine and Medicare coverage would not provide enough for the lifelong process of healing.  Taking matters into his own hands, Karl spent months teaching himself how to ride a bike again, something he has been passionate about most of his life.  He developed a healing plan with healthy eating, acupuncture, speech therapy, neuro-feedback, and high cardio velodrome track riding.  He embarked on what he calls spinning for neurogenesis: improving cognition and overall brain bandwidth.  This therapy has allowed him to reconnect with his sons and his community.

Because of the accident Karl was saddled into a life on disability, without it, he would lose his healthcare and future rehabilitation procedures.  If he was able to go back to work, he would lose all future disability insurance regardless of his past history.  He has found himself caught in a bureaucratic catch 22.  To further complicate things, because of a clerical error on his tax return, through no fault of his own, Karl lost his disability insurance and the only, however small, foundation that he had to rely on has been taken away.  Due to Covid-19 the process of rectifying the error in the disability insurance has taken months and has cost Karl dearly.  The error has been sorted but Karl is still waiting for his benefits to be reinstated.

Many who have watched this moving documentary have asked how they can help Karl. His brothers are putting together this GoFundMe support page for him.

Please support Karl in helping to cover his medical costs and get him through the near future, as well as allow him to continue his advocacy and education work around those recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
