Hey guys, My sister Karlee and brother in law Rob just welcomed a new baby in their lives, this started out as a exciting journey with unexpected circumstances and complications; Bobby was born Oct 23rd
Because of his position they decided on an emergency c section. The c section was a lot more extensive and difficult than normal
As a result that turned into an extended stay in the hospital and her iron levels dropped dramatically.
This made her immune system weaker and she needed two iron infusions before going home.
Once home they thought they were in the clear but less than a week later she started experiencing additonal complications.
On Monday the 4th she was admitted to the ER where they found she had a large hematoma that they suspected had turned into an infection.
They re-admitted her to the hospital where they started her on IV antibiotics with the hope this would stop any infection and the hematoma would resolve itself.
By Wednesday her blood work showed no improvement so they gave her a CT scan and decided surgery was the best option to remove it.
They thought the surgery would be fairly simple but upon opening discovered the infection was far worse than anyone could’ve suspected and there caught it just in time before it spread further and potentially led to sepsis.
She is now recovering but have had to stay in the hospital much longer than anticipated. She now has an open wound that will require an in-home health nurse for to come a few times a week for approximately a month until she is fully recovered.
Rob has had to take more time off work and hasn’t been able to leave her side so he has been the primary caregiver to the new baby.
Obviously they will have additonal unplanned medical costs that they weren’t anticipating and bills that they need to be covered etc. My sister and Rob hate asking for help as their very independent please consider helping them at this very difficult painful time for both of them.
