Karla Ivonne Santos is a devoted mother of twin girls who depend on her for everything—emotionally and financially. Karla came to the United States with the hope of finishing her pharmaceuticals degree and building a better life for her daughters. But when Covid hit, she lost her ability to work. Just as she was trying to get back on her feet, and the stress led to a mental breakdown. Now, Karla needs to be hospitalized for psychiatric care, but she is unable to sign herself in due to her condition. The authorities have not been able to help, and her daughters are left in a precarious situation, struggling to meet their basic needs.
