Support Karissa's battle against cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

It has taken me a long time to find the courage to write this letter. Sharing something so deeply personal is not easy, but today, I am opening my heart to you because I believe in the power of faith, community, and love. I also believe that sharing my story will bring more people into our circle of prayer, support, and hope during this challenging time.

In January 2022, after 17 years of remission, I received devastating news: my breast cancer had returned. This time, however, it came with the diagnosis of stage 4, terminal cancer. The shock was overwhelming—after so many years, I never imagined I would be here again. Even now, writing this brings a flood of emotions. But my love for my family—my incredible husband, my amazing children, and my supportive friends—gives me strength every single day. They are my world, and I want to be here for them as long as possible.

For nearly three years, I have been undergoing treatments at some of the best medical facilities in the U.S., including MD Anderson, Dana-Farber, and City of Hope. While these treatments have helped, my options are becoming limited. Some promising procedures and medications that could extend my life have yet to be FDA-approved in the United States but are available overseas. After extensive research, my family and I have identified a highly reputable facility abroad offering treatments that give us hope for more time together.

Unfortunately, these treatments are not covered by insurance. Every test, every hospital stay, every procedure—right down to the blood work and anesthesia—comes with significant out-of-pocket costs. These expenses are beyond what my family can manage alone, which is why I am humbly asking for your help.

Your support, whether through a donation, sharing my story, or lifting my family in prayer, means the world to me. It means more time to see my children grow and thrive. It means more moments with the man I love. It means more life—precious, irreplaceable time that I am not ready to give up.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering how you can help. Your kindness and generosity, no matter the size, bring us one step closer to the hope we are holding onto with all our hearts.

With love and gratitude,

Karissa Ma
