Support Kari's Journey to Become a Deaf Educator

Hi, my name is Kari Coleman, and I’m raising funds to help purchase a reliable car.

I’m a Deaf college student pursuing a career in education, and I’ve recently started an internship that’s a crucial step toward becoming a full-time teacher. I’m required to be on-site five days a week, and while the school placement isn’t changing, it’s far, and I still have to find a way to get there consistently.

My current car is beyond repair, and without reliable transportation, commuting every day just isn’t sustainable. Paying for Ubers or public transportation adds up quickly, especially on a student budget. I’m trying to make this work, but without a car, it’s incredibly difficult.

I’m passionate about becoming a teacher because there aren’t enough Deaf teachers in the classroom, and we need more of us. Deaf students deserve to see themselves reflected in their educators, and all students benefit from learning in inclusive, diverse environments. I want to be part of that change.
