Support Karina's Fight to Stay in America

I’m writing this with a heavy heart about someone who means the world to me — my friend Karina Aguilar.

Karina has called the U.S. home since she was just six days old. She grew up here, went to school here, raised her two boys here, and has spent her whole life giving to her family and community.

She’s one of those people who shows up for everyone. She’s always been the rock for her mom and siblings, working hard and putting their needs before her own. She’s also a deeply devoted mom — her two sons are her whole world. And right now, they’re facing life without her, unsure of what the future holds.

Karina is also the biggest animal lover I know. If there’s a stray in the road, she’s the one pulling over to help. If an animal needs a home, she’ll find a way. Her two dogs are still waiting at the door, tails wagging, hoping she’ll walk through it.

But right now, Karina is in the fight of her life.

She’s caught in a heartbreaking legal battle with the U.S. immigration system — and even though this is the only home she’s ever known, she’s at risk of being forced to leave.

It’s hard to put into words how unfair this is. Karina has done everything right. She’s given so much of herself to the people and animals around her. And now, she needs us.

The legal process is overwhelming and expensive. We’re raising funds to help cover her legal fees, basic living expenses, and anything else she might need as she fights to stay with her sons — and in the community she loves and has always called home.

Karina has been there for me in ways I’ll never forget. When we lost our dog, she knew where to look. And when he passed we said goodbye, she sat with us and cried. That’s who she is — someone with a huge, generous heart who never turns away from pain.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
