Karina is a former employee that turned into a family friend. She’s always been dedicated to her family, but now she’s facing a crisis that no one should have to endure. Her husband, who has been the sole provider for their family, was recently arrested by ICE and is currently being held in a detention center. He is facing deportation back to Mexico in just a few days, leaving Karina and their three children in a state of fear and uncertainty.

The situation became even more traumatic when, during the arrest, their 13-year-old son—who has suffered from a heart condition since birth—was thrown to the ground and handcuffed by an ICE agent. The stress of the event caused him severe chest pains, and he had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Karina’s youngest child is only 20 days old and is the only American citizen in the family. With a newborn to care for and the emotional toll of recent events, Karina is unable to work and is struggling to provide for her children.
