Help Caregiver Karina Fight Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
At just 36 years old, our beloved Karina is facing the hardest battle of her life. She was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease that requires immediate, intensive treatment. She began chemotherapy on 08/27/2026 — and we're happy to share that her first session went well.
For years, Karina has dedicated her life to taking care of others. As a hardworking babysitter, house cleaner, and massage therapist, her hands and her heart have brought comfort, relief, and joy to so many families in our community. She is a relentless worker who has never hesitated to show up for others. Now, she needs us to show up for her.
Her Treatment Plan:
Karina is undergoing her treatment at Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital in Houston. Her plan is intensive and will span several months:
- Weekly chemotherapy (Taxol and Carboplatin) for the coming months.
- Every 21 days, she'll also receive Keytruda, an immunotherapy medication, alongside her weekly treatments — this phase will continue for about 3 months.
- After that, she'll move into a second, more intensive round of chemotherapy (commonly known as "AC," or "the red devil") to continue fighting the cancer.
Because her profession is physically demanding, Karina will be entirely unable to work throughout this treatment plan.
