My Afghan friend, Karim, needs help.

He recently lost his car, his job, and for the time being, his roommate, with whom he shared housing costs. He was driving for Lyft, a rideshare company. When his old car died 3 months ago, he bought another used car with money he’d borrowed from friends. A week ago, he was driving with a customer on I-91 when another car slammed into his car, sending it off the road and into an abutment.

When his insurance company found out he was carrying a customer, they cancelled his insurance and transferred the claim to his rideshare company. In a few days, this company will determine whether the car is a total loss or repairable. Regardless of the determination, he will have a $2500 deductible on a car that was worth $4000 even while he's still in debt to his friends for the money he borrowed.

He is here in the US because he was helping the US military in a war with the Taliban. Staying in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover was not an option for him. Since he arrived in the US, he has been sending money to his family in Afghanistan: his wife and eight children. He is a very hard worker, is honest, fair, considerate, and treats people with respect. Please consider a donation of any amount to help this man get back on his feet.

Thank you.
