Support Karen’s Path to Recovery

My name is Olivia. I am currently making this GoFundMe account in regards to my aunt, Karen Brannon. She recently had a stroke on 2/25 due to medical conditions and dealing with high blood pressure. She was taken to the hospital the same day of 2/25. A week after being there, she had to have surgery due to a brain bleed from when she fell from having this stroke. She has been in the hospital for about a month now. She has made progress, and we are so thankful for that. She currently has had to get a second surgery and is now on tube feeding. We are being told she has 3 months to be able to learn how to swallow again. She’s slowly getting there, but if she doesn’t, they are telling us she will be put on hospice.

She was insured with Ambetter health insurance. Although when it was time to put her in a rehabilitation center on 3/24, we have recently found out she is past due over $1,200. She is currently still in Saint Thomas Hospital, and we are trying to get her transferred to a Rehabilitation Facility in Green Hills. We are starting to have to pay out of pocket for her to stay until her insurance is paid in full from the past due balance. The only issue we are running into is financial funds. Her children and the rest of the family are trying to pay what we can, but medical bills, insurance, hospital bills, and medication are very expensive. Also, while maintaining our life as well as being a support system for her.
