Our names are Kimberly and Billy Payne

and we are organizing this page to help our sister Karen Payne Silveira with a much needed medically equipped van. She has had polio since a child and has walked with the assistance of crutches since childhood. Recently, she had a horrible fall in October of 2022 and broke her femur bone in her good leg.

Karen spent six months between hospital and rehabilitation facilities and is now confined to a wheelchair as a result of her breaking her femur bone.

As the poliovirus nears extinction, Karen’s suffering increases with Post-Polio Syndrome. Her muscles and joints ache. She struggles to raise her legs for any length of time. Karen has always been a fighter , but she is very weak because of being laid up so long. Karen currently relies on a functioning electric scooter because the broken femur hasn't healed right and she now has no mobility at all in her legs.

Karen’s current vehicle cannot accommodate her motorized wheelchair / scooter and it makes it almost impossible for her to leave her home. Karen has always been the one to lend a helping hand to everyone and anyone who needed help.
