My name is Karen Bucur, and I'm a full-time missionary fighting stage 4 kidney cancer.
In 2021, my world changed when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Since then, despite surgery and ongoing treatment, my cancer has progressed to Stage 4—spreading beyond what we had hoped and prayed. This journey has been unlike anything I've ever faced—challenging, stretching, and deeply humbling. Yet each new day is another opportunity to trust God, to persevere, and to keep moving forward with hope.
For the past several years, my husband and I have served as full-time missionaries in Romania with Pathway to Joy Ministries. We have devoted our lives to sharing God's love with the Romanian people, including children living in hard places. That calling hasn't changed—even in the middle of this storm.
