Karen Gjertsen, our mom, has spent her life taking care of others. Now, as she faces the fight of her life, she needs us.

 

As a single mom, she has worked incredibly hard to give us a secure, happy life, always putting us and our family first.
 
She is also a lifelong member of the Tuckahoe community. Tuckahoe isn’t simply where she lives; it is home, it is part of who she is, and it will always be in her heart. She loves this village and the people who have surrounded her and us throughout our lives.



That same love extends to the Bronxville community, where she has dedicated her career to teaching and caring for children. Every student who has walked into Ms. Gjertsen’s room has been embraced, encouraged, and loved. She goes above and beyond to help her students become the very best they can be, and her connection to them often continues long after they leave her classroom. Karen loves her Bronxville families, students, and colleagues with her whole heart.

 

Our mom is facing the fight of her life after a devastating diagnosis of stage 4 cancer.

 

She needs to focus her energy on treatment, healing, and being here for many more years with us.

 

Unfortunately, she also must carry the fear of mounting medical expenses, missed work, her mortgage, and the everyday costs of maintaining the life she has worked so hard to build.

 

Any funds raised will help ease that financial burden and allow our mom to put her strength where it belongs, which means fighting for her life and her future.
