Help Us Support Karen on Her Healing Journey
Our beautiful mom (Karen) has always been the heart of our family — strong, caring, and endlessly giving. After undergoing major spinal surgery this March, her journey took an unexpected turn when she suffered a stroke during recovery.
Fortunately her speech and cognitive functions were not affected, but her motor skills on her left side have been compromised. She did regain some movement of her left hand and arm, but that needs to get much stronger. Her left leg is currently non-functional and will require a lot more therapy. She cannot get out of bed without full assistance. She has spent the past several weeks in the hospital and then acute rehab, demonstrating incredible determination each day to regain her strength and independence.
Throughout this journey, Mom’s faith in Jesus has been her anchor. She leans on His promises daily, drawing strength from her relationship with the Lord. We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support from her church community and fellow believers. Your intercessions have been a source of comfort and hope, reminding us that we are not alone in this battle.
She is scheduled to come home on May 7th. While we’re overjoyed to welcome her back, the road ahead involves extensive ongoing care, therapy, and medical support—needs that extend beyond what insurance can cover.
We (Kathy and Kelly) will be her primary caregivers, ensuring she receives the daily assistance she needs. However, the financial demands are significant. Your support will help us:
- Provide In-Home Care: Hiring skilled caregivers to assist with daily activities and ensure Mom’s safety.
- Acquire Medical Equipment: Renting/Purchasing necessary items like a fully automated hospital bed, wheelchair, walker, and other medical supplies not covered by insurance.
- Cover Therapy Costs: Funding physical, occupational therapy co-pays not covered by her insurance.
- Facilitate Medical Transportation: Ensuring she can attend medical appointments and therapy sessions.
Mom has spent her life caring for others — church, family, friends, and anyone who needed a hand or a kind word. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to providing Mom with the care she needs. More importantly, we ask for your continued prayers for her complete healing. We trust in God’s plan and believe in His power to restore.
