Support Karen Marusik's Fight Against Cancer

11/26: Update on Karen – Karen had a PET and CT scan yesterday and also met with her oncology care team. More sad news, she learned the cancer is more widespread than initially indicated, esophagus, lymph nodes, liver and stomach. Her care team will be starting chemotherapy immediately. Will keep you updated on Karen’s status.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and generous support, it is truly appreciated! Every dollar really does help (she had to pay $1,600 OOP for her PET scan Monday).

As most of you already know, our friend and colleague, Karen Marusik, battled and won her bout with breast cancer a little over 4 years ago. Last week, she was given the sad news that cancer has returned not in her breast this time but in her esophagus. Currently, her care team is developing a plan forward with the hopes that she will once again beat cancer! She is so strong that I have no doubt she can do it again!

As you can imagine, Karen will have out of pocket expenses for her treatments with her insurance max out of pocket being over $7k per year, as well as other expenses.

Karen can take on any fight and we all have her back to get her through this very difficult time. She asks for nothing and never wants to “burden” others and she deserves all the help she can get. She is always taking care of others and now it is our time to take care of her!
