Support Karen in Her Ongoing Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Karen is my best friend's mom, and she means the world to so many people, including her children and grandchildren. She has always been a private person, but currently needs our help navigating through this incredibly difficult time. I'm hoping to respectfully share her story and offer support while honoring her privacy.

For 19 years, Karen has been living with bilateral pan uveitis, an autoimmune disorder. She was able to get this condition under control and was considered in remission around July 2024. Unfortunately, in August 2024, she discovered a lump in her right breast. Testing confirmed it was invasive ductal carcinoma with lymph node metastasis, which is considered stage 3A breast cancer.

Karen began chemotherapy and immunotherapy in November 2024. She underwent 13 weeks of therapy before facing an unexpected and life-threatening setback. Her chemo port became infected, which led to sepsis and pneumonia. She was hospitalized from January 30th to February 19th.

Through a difficult recovery, she was finally able to return home. She has a long journey to recovery ahead but continues to make some improvements each day. She is currently receiving IV antibiotics via PICC line, requiring multiple medications, and is receiving regular visits from home health nurses.

At this time, her cancer treatment has been discontinued until she regains her strength and energy. Furthermore, Karen is unable to work. Her family is doing everything they can to secure short-term disability and medical leave, but the financial strain is becoming overwhelming. Karen was the primary earner and also carried their health insurance. They are struggling to cover essential expenses such as mortgage payments, utilities, medical bills, medications, insurance, and daily costs like gas and groceries.

With this money we can help ease their burden, allowing Karen to focus on fighting and healing without the added worry of this financial hardship. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to her and her family! If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as valuable. Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
