Karen Francis is one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet! She has a great love for God and for children! Many of you will recognize her by her hats as she has brought joy and smiles to many children, parents and all those that drive by and see her each day as she crosses students on the west side! She is out there rain, snow, sleet or sun and she loves it! She loves seeing the kids and all who go by each morning and afternoon. If you are on that sees her each day you know she’s been in a neck brace for several months now. She is schedule to have surgery this Friday, May 9th but she just learned that she will not be able to return to work at all this school year. This devastated her because she is going to miss the kids so much! Not only is her time with the kids being taken away early but now so is her paycheck. This campaign was created to help alleviate some of the stress that comes with being out of work longer than expected as well as to hopefully help in anyway as she recovers. Thank you in advance for helping to bless Karen!
Here is some more info of why surgery and what kind…please keep Karen in your prayers as she has a long road ahead….
On October 30, 2024 Karen went to the ER with her left arm limp and non functioning. They thought it might be a stroke . As it turned out, it was a pinched nerve. The doctor did a cervical fusion from C3 to C7. As time went on, it was not healing correctly, and the doctor said Karen’s spine was collapsing, and she would need a second surgery. They are now fusing from C4 to T2. Due to the nature of the surgery, recovery is a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks. This puts us to the end of the school year.
