Support Karen Copeland's End-of-Life Care

Hello everyone, my name is Destini Yohe & I am one of Karen Copeland’s daughters. I am creating this GoFundMe to help go towards end-of-life expenses for my Mom.
On Sunday, May 25th, my sister and I brought our Mom to the hospital because of extreme abdominal pain and loss of feeling in her legs and feet. She was rushed into surgery within an hour of getting to the hospital and was diagnosed with Mesenteric Venous Thrombosis, which is the formation of a blood clot in your superior mesenteric vein (SMV). This is a blood vessel in your abdomen that carries blood away from your small intestine towards your liver. The blood clot disrupts normal blood flow among the different organs in your belly. Unfortunately, she had already been experiencing symptoms for several hours, and the doctors were only able to save 18 inches of her small intestine. Because of her condition, she was given an ileostomy, a feeding tube was placed, and she ended up staying on the ventilator for 13 days.
Since she arrived at the hospital, she has had 5 different procedures and has fought very hard every step of the way. Yesterday, we received the unfortunate news that she is still actively losing blood, and the lack of perfusion in her lower extremities is causing her to lose circulation, and she is too high risk for any more required procedures.
Our Mom has shared with us that she is tired, she knows her body is failing her, and she’s ready to leave this earth to be with our Grandma Alice and her Dad. She has been transferred to Hospice today (06/13/2025), where she will spend the rest of her days on this earth surrounded by her loved ones, feeling all the comfort and love that can possibly be offered to her right now.
The purpose of this fund is to help myself and my siblings cover end-of-life expenses for our Mom. You are never prepared for something like this to happen, and any little bit will help.
Thank you all so much for the love and support, it is so incredibly appreciated.
