This GoFundMe campaign is in support of Karen Arrington, who, for many months, has experienced severe, escalating problems with her vision, resulting in several surgeries and long periods of recovery. Overnight, Karen's longtime work as a graphic designer became impossible due to the loss of vision. As a result, she was also suddenly unable to drive. This created a financial emergency for Karen, who, after five months, has exhausted her emergency savings and is now facing eviction from her home.

Karen started experiencing a rapid loss of vision in late 2024 and became unable to see well enough to drive. She had four eye surgeries between December 2024 and May 2025 and is still in recovery. She has regained some of her vision but, disappointingly, not all of it. Her vision remains greatly impacted with the final prognosis uncertain. This is devastating for a visual artist.

Karen is unable to go back to her graphic design work at this time, but she still keeps a positive outlook that she may be able to do this in the future. She is also still unable to see well enough to drive safely. Her family, students, and friends have been taking turns driving her to and from classes (Thanks to all the drivers!).

Karen has persevered through vision loss, multiple surgeries, and her ongoing healing process, continuing (with some accommodations) to teach Pottery Wheel 2, Pottery Wheel 4, Raku, Wood Fire Pottery, and coach her students upon request.
