Help Kara Fight Breast Cancer & Continue Her Cold Cap Treatments

My name is Melissa. My best friend, Kara Butler, is one of the strongest people I know. At just 37 years old, she’s been navigating a battle with breast cancer that began in 2018. Kara has done everything in her power to stay cancer-free, including very invasive procedures she has requested to keep private. Despite her courage and countless treatments, the cancer returned.

Since then, Kara has endured multiple clinical trials and other medical regimens. She has now begun infusion chemotherapy. With this treatment comes one of the most visible side effects - hair loss.

For Kara, keeping her hair isn’t just about vanity - it’s about strength, normalcy, and hope. She’s been using cold cap treatments to help preserve her hair during chemo. Unfortunately, these treatments are not covered by insurance and are very expensive. They have made a huge difference in her confidence and positivity, which are both essential in this ongoing fight.

Beyond her health battle, Kara is also a devoted single mom of two boys. She works full-time, pays her household bills, and continues to provide for her family, all while carrying the weight of this diagnosis. The financial strain of medical bills and cold cap treatments has become overwhelming.

As much as Kara has been reluctant to ask for help (because this is a very personal and private time in a persons life)… We are creating this GoFundMe to support Kara with the cost of cold cap treatments and to ease some of the financial pressure so she can focus on what matters most: her health, her boys, and living each day with joy.

Kara doesn’t want this to be a story of pity - she wants people to see the face of someone living with cancer, someone who looks healthy on the outside but is fighting an invisible battle inside.
