Support Karah: Father's Cremation & Ashes
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Karah. I’m seeking help to afford and pay for my father’s cremation and shipping ashes to me.
A little backstory: My dad, James Perdue, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer about a month ago. He has been undergoing chemo treatments, which some of you may have noticed started taking a toll on him majorly. My daughters and I came to Austin, Texas, on Thursday, April 24th, to surprise my dad for an early birthday present and see him before he got too sick. I did not hear from him for the first 2 days I was there. I was worried something had happened to him, and unfortunately, I was right.
Due to the chemo making my dad weaker and weaker, he started having trouble keeping his balance. In the middle of the night on April 25th, my dad fell, causing him to hit his head on something hard and causing him to have a brain bleed. He lost his pulse twice while in the ambulance on the way to Saint David’s South Austin Hospital. When I arrived, my dad was unconscious and hooked up to a ventilator. The nurse explained he had some brain activity, but it was hard to tell what would happen. Later during the day, the nurse said his tests were all coming back great, and I had very high hopes. I went to his house to gather some things he would need when he woke up, and when I arrived back at the hospital, my dad had gone into cardiac arrest. They gave him CPR twice, and his pulse would always bottom out. Unfortunately, my father passed away on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 9:00 pm.
After his passing, I was immediately hit with questions on what I wanted to do next, with me being his next of kin. I had to call and go through all the options I had at the time, and I chose the cheapest way to make sure my dad is put to rest the way he’d want to. I am seeking help with the total cost of his cremation and the amount to get his ashes sent to me in the mail. My dad meant a lot to me, and the short time I did have him in my life will forever be cherished. Any amount will help immensely. Thank you for taking the time to read my attempt to get help to put my dad to rest.
