Kara was diagnosed with colon cancer early this year. After surgery in January to remove the tumor, she recently began a 6-month course of chemotherapy.
Kara works in the non-profit world, and is a single parent. As such, we're bringing together our community to ask for help in supporting her during this time. Raising money is one way to help: this will ensure that Kara can focus on her treatment, without worrying about finances.
Funds will be used for:
- monthly living expenses. Kara will be working a reduced schedule during treatment (so long as she is able) and will be receiving some funds via disability, but the remaining loss of income for 6+ months hits hard for a single parent. This fund will make up the difference.
- medical expenses. Her insurance covers a large portion of treatment, but she will still have significant out-of-pocket expenses and owes a few thousand dollars to the hospital for her surgery. #americanhealthcare!
