My name is Kayleigh, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my best friend, Kara Sanders, and her beloved dog, Aspyn.

Aspyn is a 2½-year-old Great Pyrenees — loyal, gentle, stubborn, and protective, just like her breed. She’s been part of Kara’s family since she was 11 weeks old, growing up alongside Kara’s three children and their other dog. For them, Aspyn isn’t “just a pet.” She’s family — a constant through heartbreak, divorce, and transition.

But right now, Kara is facing an impossible choice: rehoming Aspyn or losing their housing stability.

After a difficult divorce and move into a new rental home, Kara and her kids have been trying to keep life steady. Unfortunately, Aspyn’s instincts as a Great Pyrenees — her barking and tendency to wander — have caused ongoing problems. She escapes tie-outs, and the lack of a fenced yard has led to repeated runaways and noise complaints. Kara has done everything she can to keep Aspyn safe, but it’s become a dangerous situation, and the family is out of options.

I’ve spent days reaching out to rescues, trainers, and breed groups to find another path. Finally, we’ve found a miracle option — an out-of-state trainer who specializes in difficult cases and understands the GP's unique temperament. The trainer has offered to do a board-and-train program and will even handle 16 hours of travel for pickup and drop-off. This would give both Kara and Aspyn the tools they need to live safely and happily together again.

The only barrier is cost — which covers the training, travel, and Aspyn’s spay surgery when she returns home.

Kara would never ask for help herself. She’s one of the most selfless people I know — the kind who gives until she has nothing left to give. And right now, she’s just trying to keep her kids, her dogs, and her heart together.

I’m making this fundraiser because I know how hard it is to believe you deserve help when life has already knocked you down. Kara won’t ask — but she does deserve it.
