Greetings,
On behalf of the members of the Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., we invite you to support our ongoing commitment to educational excellence through the Tyrone Baker, Sr. Scholarship and the William Scott, Jr. Sigma Beta Club STEM Scholarship.
Honoring Brother William Scott, Jr.
The Brother William Scott, Jr. STEM Scholarship was established in recognition of his lifelong passion for math, science, and educational advancement.
Brother Scott was born on April 28, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Central High School in 1947 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Lincoln University in 1951. In 1952, he was called to serve in the United States Army, where he worked with the Chemical Corps Unit. He received an honorable discharge in 1960.
Brother Scott built a distinguished professional career with Rohm & Haas, first as a chemist and later as a Technical Consultant, before retiring in 1990. A lifelong member of the Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter, he exemplified the fraternity’s ideals through service, leadership, and community advocacy. He was also a Co‑Founder of the Willingboro Chapter of the NAACP and played a key role in ensuring that the Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter became lifetime members of the organization.
Brother Scott transitioned to the Omega Chapter on December 26, 2016, leaving behind a legacy of scholarship, service, and unwavering commitment to uplifting others.
Supporting the Next Generation
Each year, our chapter provides financial assistance to deserving students pursuing higher education. As the cost of tuition, books, and living expenses continues to rise, scholarships play a critical role in helping students remain focused on their academic goals and future aspirations.
In honor of our founding year, we invite supporters to consider making a minimum contribution of $19.14 to our scholarship fund. Every donation—no matter the amount—makes a meaningful impact and directly supports students in our community who are striving to achieve their educational dreams.
Thank you for supporting our mission and helping us uplift the next generation of scholars. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
