Kansas has revoked the driver’s licenses of trans people who legally changed their gender markers. This isn’t abstract or symbolic—it’s immediate and devastating. Losing a valid ID affects nearly every part of daily life: getting to work, securing housing, accessing healthcare and benefits, picking up prescriptions, and simply existing without fear of harassment or arrest.

This fund is to help trans people in Kansas cover transportation costs, license renewals, replacement documents, and the unexpected fees that come with being forcibly pushed back into bureaucracy we already navigated once. Many people are now stuck paying out of pocket for rides, risking tickets for driving without valid ID, or facing delays that threaten their jobs and housing. Trans people shouldn’t have to pay—financially or otherwise—for the state deciding our identities are up for debate.

I’m part of the trans and queer community and am directly connected to trans people in Kansas who are being impacted by the revocation of updated driver’s licenses and IDs. I’m organizing this fund in coordination with affected individuals and trusted community networks, while protecting recipients’ privacy for safety reasons. Funds raised will be distributed directly via Venmo to impacted trans people via secure transfers. Donations will go toward transportation costs, license renewals and replacements, and related administrative fees so people can get to work, access healthcare and benefits, and remain housed and safe. This will happen as soon as possible.
