Sabin Shahi, 33 year old beloved husband and loving father, died unexpectedly in his sleep on October 25, 2025. He left behind wife Kanchan and baby daughter Sabhana. Sabin became a US citizen, imagining a bright future, less than a month before his untimely death. He and Kanchan had only recently celebrated a traditional ceremony, when Sabhana tasted her first solid food. Kanchan had returned to work after maternity leave less than a week before she lost Sabin. Sabin himself had recently been promoted in his job to supervisor or "ambassador" at the casino where he worked the night shift to support his family. Along with his wife and baby, he also supported his widowed mother and paralyzed brother back home in Nepal.

Kanchan had her heart set on Sabin ever since they fell in love at age 22. She turned down proposals for arranged marriages and refused to marry anyone else, and she even obtained a visa and moved to the US alone in 2015. Finally her parents relented, and she went back and wed her one true love, Sabin in 2019. After waiting for a visa, Sabin moved to the US in 2022, and the couple were overjoyed to finally be together after almost a decade of longing. Their bliss was complete when baby Sabhana was born in March of this year.

Sabin was a very gentle and kind person, looking after even the smallest details to show love to his family. He was very warm, with a quiet confidence. People gravitated to him, and although he and Kanchan have no family here, they assembled a very loving and close knit community of coworkers and fellow Nepalese Americans. Sabin dreamed of someday becoming a baker and owning a bakery. Sabin loved music and playing the guitar. He respected and loved nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially with the baby.
