Support Kanan's Recovery and Rent Relief

Hi, I'm Kanan. I'm a trans guy and a political activist. I run a non-profit with the mission to get the LGBTQ+ community engaged in our local politics and civics. I don't make much money in my regular job, but it's okay because I believe in the work we do with the non-profit.

Unfortunately, I was hit with a very severe blood clot that landed me in the hospital for a week and will keep me from working my service industry job for another week or two at best. I don't have any savings and the loss of wages puts me in a situation where I won't be able to pay my rent.

Donations will help make up for the lost wages, as I don't work a job with PTO or sick time. It will be just enough to help me pay rent and handle some medical expenses, which is a real stressor for me as I'm trying to recover.

Thank you so much for everyone who donated! You guys are amazing. I'm honestly in awe of the outpouring of kindness from you all. I know that my rent will be paid, which is a massive relief. Thank you so much. I'm hoping at this point to be able to raise the rest of the funds for my medical expenses. A week in the hospital isn't cheap, and we live in America, with our /great/ healthcare system. Thank you so much for your help in shouldering this burden. I will pay all of this forward in any way I can.

Good lord. Thanks to Flint for pushing this out to people while I'm staying with him to recover. I'm beyond touched by the generosity of everyone. This is going to go such a long way in paying my medical bills. I've been worried about figuring out how I'm going to go back to a job that requires standing all day when I can't even stand long enough to wash a sink full of dishes without being worn out and achy, and you guys are giving me the cushion I need to figure it out.
