Standing with Kam During His Medical Battle

Kam is a very special little boy. These past two months have been a spiraling journey into his already medically complex history. We have spent over 44 days at Childrens Hospital since October while he’s battling very serious health issues. We’ve recently found out his dysfunctional immune system is much more complex than previously thought. Kam has a history of prematurity, NEC, short bowel syndrome, chronic anemia, Macrophage Activation Syndrome, interstitial lung disease and chronic kidney disease ( to name a few diagnoses). With this current admission, doctors have been working very hard to determine any underlying causes for his worsening condition. He had to be intubated for several days for shock. They had diagnosed him with aHUS ( atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome) - which is an ultra rare kidney disease caused by the complement system, which is a part of the immune system. They also believe he may have functional factor H deficiency ( related to immune system). He began Ultomaris treatments, which helps to treat aHUS- but we had to recently stop treatments because doctors feel it may not help with his other underlying immune conditions. After receiving his biopsy results from his liver & kidneys, doctors also believe he has (CID)  Combined Immunodeficiency with Granulomatous Disease of unknown cause (as of now) which alone is a very serious immune disorder, along with GLILD. So for Kam, having multiple rare disorders along with MAS, short bowel syndrome, blood clot, hepatosplenomegaly, etc, makes his health issues more challenging to treat. I am thankful for the doctors( they been working together & speaking with specialists over the country to find the best course of treatments for him. I haven’t been able to work in two months because of the issue we’re facing. We have just been moved back to Special Care for elevated calcium & worsening kidney function. This setback has just caused our stay here to be longer. I was hoping to make it home by Christmas and to start back working, but it is looking less likely by the day. I am asking for any donations to help with this long, unplanned and so very complicated situation. Not sure how long we’ll be here or what our immediate or long term future looks like. Any donations would be much appreciated to help keep things going here as well as at home. Thank y’all for the prayers. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions and ups & downs.
