Help Kamal and Hanin's family rebuild their lives

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Brooke (from the U.S), and I am raising funds on behalf of my dear friend Kamal Al-Kilani, and his beautiful family. They have lost their home and furniture store in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the brutality of the Israeli occupation. They have been displaced multiple times, (between the street, tents, and warehouses), and are currently trapped in the northern area of the strip where aid is close to non-existent.

Before sharing more information on how your donated funds will be used to help, I would like to introduce him, as well as his 6 other family members who desperately require aid.

Kamal (33), and his wife Haneen (28):

Together, they share 4 beautiful girls by the names of Aida (8), Hayat (6), Jilan (4), and Shawq (8 months):

Lastly, is Kamal's mother (78):

(Pictured above is Kamal with his mother and father. His father was sadly martyred in their own home by the occupation right in front of him. Along with his father, his Sister-in-law and his nephew were also martyred in this incident. I will later include the Aljazeera Report and Kamal's words regarding this horrible event in an "update" section).

Here is why this GoFundMe is so important...

this situation is LIFE or DEATH for them.
Kamal was the breadwinner of the family and did well supporting them. This genocide has changed everything- being out of work for a year (as of 10/03/24), has left them now out of money and work.
For their safety and wellbeing- they must evacuate Gaza. But, this comes at a high cost. The border crossing into Egypt is under occupation control, and it is not a free passage for anyone who needs to flee.

The cost to evacuate is at least:
$5,000 per Adult
$2,500 per Child
= $25,000 for evacuation fees alone.

Now, this does not include the money required for food, water, hygiene and cleaning products. Nor does this include money for rent and rebuilding their life once they've relocated. Another cost has been medical treatments for his daughters who have been injured by shrapnel by nearby bombings, as well as breathing treatments and other medical care (see images below).

The goal may increase depending on the time it takes to raise the full amount, as they will need to continue to survive on the funds they raise until they're able to leave.

In Kamal's words:

"I want to travel to a safe area to escape the war via a designated route with the Egyptian Hala company. To Egypt then to one of the European countries in order to preserve the safety of my children and my family, to live and settle, and to provide my children with the basic natural needs such as safety, education, housing, and food".

As briefly mentioned above, most aid is not reaching people in Gaza, especially in the North. There are many other items at EXTREME prices including:

  • milk, bread, veggies, water, protein, standard food items
  • diapers, hygiene products for the prevention of spreading diseases, clothing
  • current/potential medical supplies and assistance.

Once more, I'd like to share some of Kamal's words on part of his experience, and how much these donations mean to him:

"We see phosphorescent lights and drones. We sleep with fear and war, bombing around us. There has not been a single night of peace since the beginning of the war.
Instead of seeing young children smiling, I see children shedding tears and pain. Everyone in Gaza is suffering, both old and young.

We are targeted anywhere and everywhere. My family's safety is not guaranteed. All the supplies are dwindling. Gaza is dying and everyone here is just a dead man walking. No one sees my pain. I must put a smile on. My children have seen all the horrors that war has brought us.

To you, dear friends, for support and solidarity, your generosity offers a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness, and illuminates the path toward a brighter tomorrow. Every contribution, no matter how humble, is a lifeline and enables us to transcend the boundaries of conflict and rebuild our lives with dignity and resilience. With sincere gratitude". -Kamal

_____________
As you can see, this has been such a traumatic experience and continues to drain them every day.
Through it all though, they still inspire those who know them with their gratitude, faith, and hope for better days.

One last bit to know about this page and why I specifically am raising funds for them. I have been very active in supporting Palestine and got to know Kamal through communication and communities online with other supportive people and groups over the past year. One of these amazing groups is called Watermelon Family - who, along with myself, and risk management at GoFundMe, have vetted and approved for fundraising. (I thought this would be beneficial for donors to know, as there are unfortunately people taking financial advantage of this situation).

I have grown to love them all. I hope you will follow along for updates and grow to love them more and more each day as well. Thank you for your compassion. Every little bit helps!
