Help my son thrive at his new school (5K by May 5th, 2025)

this is a Kahea, or “call for your help”. My name is Malia, I am born and raised here in Hawaii on the island of Maui.

I’m a single mother of two boys, Kamaha’o who is 14 and Kaila’i who is 13 years old. I currently work full-time for the State of Hawaii, and I’ve recently started working a part-time job on the weekends to help make ends meet. Additionally, I am a part-time student working on my associate’s degree in Liberal arts; my goal is to earn my bachelor’s degree in applied science & information technology. I’ve been working hard for the past few years trying to better myself in different ways, not only for myself but also for my children. I am continually grateful and blessed to be able to work for my community and continue to help individuals in my community in any way I can, so they can navigate through life a little easier. My kids have been my beacon of hope for me when times are hard, and when I wanted to give up, they remind me that hope and faith is real and I can overcome the challenges that I am facing and conquer anything I work hard for.

My son Kamaha’o was recently accepted into one of the best private schools here in Hawaii for his freshman 2025-2026 school year. I’m not very good at asking for help, and in fact this is out of my comfort zone, but I’m going to put myself out there and humbly ask for donations to help make his dream of expanding his education and attending this school a reality. He deserves to be in a space where he can thrive and be supported, and he has worked extremely hard the past couple years in and out of the classroom to make his dream a possibility. He looks forward to his future at his new school, where he hopes to do humanitarian work, community service, study law, philosophy, fine arts, writing, and poetry, but also to have a chance to join their paddling team which is something my child is very passionate about. We qualified for financial aid, but it is not enough to cover his deposit, tuition, books, and bus fare. I need $2500 to secure his spot by May 5th, 2025, and $2672 for the first two months of tuition that they require. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Mahalo Nui Kakou! I would like to thank everyone for taking the time out to read and for any donations if you choose to give.
