Our sweet Kali Girl is fighting the hardest battle of her life.
Early Sunday morning, Kali was found unresponsive with a very faint pulse and struggling to breathe. CPR was performed while waiting for emergency responders, and she was rushed to the nearest hospital. Since then, she has been transferred between three hospitals in an urgent effort to get her the specialized care she needs. She is now at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha.
Kali is currently heavily sedated and intubated. Doctors are treating her for sepsis, and her heart is very weak. While she has become a little more stable, she is still very much not out of the woods. Her blood pressure is being maintained with strong medications, and the team is carefully trying to wean those medications as her body allows. There is infection affecting her heart and lungs, and some concern for her liver and kidneys, which doctors say can happen with how sick she is and the medications required to keep her stable.
She will be in the hospital for at least a week, if not longer, and our family has been navigating hospital transfers, emergency travel, hotel stays, meals, and time away from work, all while staying close to Kali and hoping for continued progress.
So many people have reached out asking how they can help. This GoFundMe is to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly overwhelming time, so our family can focus entirely on being present for Kali and supporting her recovery.
If you’re able to donate, we are deeply grateful. If you’re not in a position to give, sharing this page means just as much. Every prayer, message, share, and act of kindness has carried us through the darkest days.
Thank you for loving Kali and for surrounding our family with so much support.
