As many of you know Kaleb had a freak accident about 2 weeks ago. We ended up in the ER overnight with a broken tib/fib. He had to have surgery the next day and they inserted a permanent metal rod into his lower right leg. We went for his ortho check up this morning, he got his staples removed, they took some X-rays and said everything is healing as it should. They expect PT to start around week 6. All in all, he’s on the “best case scenario” path.
Kaleb is currently a subcontract medical courier who drives for a living and will be out of work for 10-12 weeks total. That is creating a massive disruption in our standard income. We are prepared to maintain our normal bills for the duration of his time down, and we are working on getting all the medical bills figured out. Having just closed on our house two and a half weeks prior to his injury, our savings account is not what it had been. We are stressing how to save up for plane tickets / travel expenses for flying out to Seattle and back to pick up Eli for summer visitation.
Kaleb (or Paige if for some reason Kaleb isn’t cleared to drive yet) will fly out to pick up Eli on Monday, June 15th & have to return him Monday, August 3rd. All in all that’s 3 sets of round trip flights with summertime travel pricing. 1 set for Kaleb to fly out & fly back alone after drop off, 2 sets for when Kaleb & Eli fly in, and then for the return flight back to Seattle. We also had been planning to put him in some summer camps & programs while he was visiting around our work schedules. At best, Kaleb will be back working 2 weeks before he has to go pick Eli up. We are going to be working double time to catch up once Kaleb is back able to work.
If you wish to help with Eli’s travel expenses & getting Kaleb back on solid ground before little man comes to visit, we thank you for your kindness, if you don’t feel led to donate, please share. We love our village & can’t wait for Kaleb to be 100% well and for Eli to spend some quality time with his daddy this summer. Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate the next few months.
