Aloha Family and Friends,
We, the Keliiholokai-Agustin and Agustin Ohana, have been facing some struggles more now than ever, and although it's been difficult to ask for Kokua, we realize that we must.
Kalani is in need of a heart surgery at Stanford University in California. Since December 2000, he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure, and by God’s grace, 26 years later, Kalani has been living his best life. While on dialysis, he has faced many health challenges and has overcome them one by one. His recent challenge started at the beginning of this year. It took a transfer to Queen’s Medical Center to find a vegetation growth on his lead wire of his ICD, which is connected to his heart. In 2008, the doctors found that he had an enlarged heart and the device was needed to assist with his health. In 2016, the battery had to be changed, and now 10 years later, his heart is now back to normal. Thank God….
This surgery will help with the removal of this device that is no longer needed and now causing harm to his body. For this surgery to be a success and for Kalani to be clear of all infection, all other foreign objects in his body need to be removed so he doesn’t get affected in the process. Currently, his site for dialysis is a temporary catheter that is a foreign object and his lifeline that needs to be replaced to continue his dialysis treatment. Thus, we need to have that replaced after the removal of the ICD. The next challenge would be to get a permanent graft so he may continue to receive his treatments three times a week.
We are in dire need of monetary assistance. Kalani has been in Queen's Medical Center on Oahu since February 2 of this month and has had a knee surgery, several blood transfusions, and heavy antibiotics. The surgeons here recommended that he be transferred to Stanford University to a doctor that is willing to take his case and provide the surgery that is needed.
As the family faces this hardship to get Kalani his heart surgery, we are asking for your support in this time of need. Any amount is helpful.
Mahalo nui for considering your donation.
