Our beloved and tenacious Kala Ott, also known as Ms. Ott by her middle school students, suffered a left middle cerebral artery (L MCA) stroke on December 2, 2024. She was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, interventions to remove the clot were unsuccessful. After spending a few days in intensive care, Kala was transferred to a medical floor where her care team is determining next steps. We remain hopeful, but expect the recovery journey to be long and initially include intensive inpatient rehabilitation followed by extensive outpatient support.

Folks have asked how they could best help Kala and her recovery journey. We anticipate that Kala will have a number of financial burdens associated with care. Any and all donations, prayers, healing vibes, and positive energy are so appreciated.
