I’m here to ask for help, because my best friend Kaity won’t. She’s always been the one everyone else calls when they need help, and she always helps without hesitation. I need your help, to help save my friend. Kaity saved me by inviting me into her home when I had nowhere to go, only a few hours after having met me. She has treated me like family from the beginning. She’s always there when I need her, often when I didn’t even realize I needed her. I have watched her help so many in the same way. Without being asked, without question, and without an expectation of anything in return.
After several doctors appointments and procedures, she found out yesterday that she has stage 3c2 squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix with lymph node involvement. She will have to travel to Texas Oncology in Austin in order to get intensive radiation 5 days a week, for 6 weeks, along with chemotherapy as well, followed by implantation of a device that will give direct radiation to the mass. All in all, about 6 months of treatment, with the hope that it will save her life and allow her to be able to raise her son, to see him graduate and head off to college. It’s her one and only dream. Kaitlin has already fought and won one battle with a rare liver cancer that she was diagnosed with at the age of 18. She fought hard for five years and beat it. She had her son at 25 and has been working hard to not only take care of him but everyone she cares about ever since. She even quit her career, to stay with her mother and care for her for 4 years, until she died of colon cancer eight years ago. Kaity has taken in many children who had nowhere to go. All of which she continues to care for to this day even though they are no longer under her roof. Every dollar she makes goes into everyone around her to make sure that everyone is taken care of because that’s just who she is. When she found out that she has cancer once again before the age of 40, there was half a second of “its not fair,” but was instantly more concerned for her family and her son being okay if she were to not survive this. Kaity has to come up with $35,000 for her surgery. She’s doesn’t believe it can be done, and she has started making arrangements accordingly. She needs the surgery immediately. The cancer is very aggressive and every day counts right now. Please help me prove her wrong. Help me prove that the world still needs people like her who care more for others than she cares for herself and that there are still others in the world that do that too. Please help someone that would turn around and do the same for you if you needed it. Every dollar helps and we appreciate any help you can offer more than you can imagine, even if it’s a prayer or kind words. Cancer has devastated her life in so many ways but I believe if everyone comes together, we can save not only her life, but we can show her that there’s still good left in the world. It’s surprisingly easy to forget how precious life is. Don’t forget!
