U24 Australian Ultimate Frisbee Team

Hi, my name is William Kaito Foster, but everyone calls me Kaito. I’m incredibly honored to have been selected for the U24 Mixed Australia national squad for ultimate frisbee! This June, from the 21st to the 28th, I’ll compete in Logroño, Spain, alongside 71 other Australian representatives chosen from a highly competitive pool of 150 athletes.

My Journey in Ultimate

I grew up in Sydney, moved to Adelaide for university in 2021, and have recently returned. Since discovering ultimate frisbee in late 2018, the sport has become my passion. I’ve had the privilege of playing with clubs in both Sydney and Adelaide, competing at the highest national levels.

Ultimate is a unique sport played on a field similar to American football, with endzones and a mix of offensive and defensive play. But what truly sets it apart is its foundation in Spirit of the Game (SOTG)—a system of self-officiation that relies on trust, sportsmanship, and fair play. Even at the highest levels, there are no referees, making player integrity a core part of the game. The combination of this culture and the fascinating flight dynamics of a 175g disc has kept me fully invested in the sport.

The Dream and The Challenge

After three years of competing at the Australian Ultimate Club Championships in the Open’s Division 1, I’ve achieved a lifelong goal: representing Australia on the international stage. However, ultimate frisbee receives no government funding, meaning all expenses fall on the athletes.
