Support Kaitlyn's Escape From Domestic Violence
Donation protected
My name is Roxanne and I am starting this GoFundMe for Kaitlyn, her 4yo son and 16mo old daughter. They desperately need our help to make rent and utilities for at least April and May, and ideally enough to purchase a reliable used car
She fled domestic violence in Wyoming, arriving in Fairfax, Virginia about a six weeks ago. The father of her beautiful daughter threatened to kill Kaitlyn when the state of Wyoming tried to force him to pay child support.
Prior to Wyoming, Kaitlyn lived in Washington, where her (also abusive) husband was convicted of soliciting an undercover police officer for sex with children, even offering their then 9-month old son for sex “in trade”. As part of the fallout, her car was repossessed
Kaitlyn paid a friend to bring her possessions in an open trailer all the way from Wyoming , but the trailer was hit by a semi and she lost almost everything. Kaitlyn had a job waiting for her here in Fairfax, and had arranged for daycare as well. On her first day of work her son, who has epilepsy, had a seizure at daycare. She had to leave work to care for him and was fired as a result—and the daycare said her son could not return due to his epilepsy and other disabilities. Just like that, Kaitlyn’s perfectly-laid plan fell apart
I met Kaitlyn shortly after she was fired. She had been able to acquire a second-hand crib for her daughter and another crib mattress for her son. Kaitlyn, though, was sleeping on the floor and the apartment was virtually empty. Through the magic of my generous friends and Buy Nothing community, we were able to completely furnish her apartment, load her up with groceries and obtain a refurbished laptop so she could search for jobs. So, the good news is that she’s set for “stuff”!
The bad news is that she is $565 short for April’s rent, and the 10% PER DAY penalty started on Saturday 5th April. With no job, she’s unable to make any progress on May’s rent either. With no daycare, it’s virtually impossible for her to interview successfully. In short, she’s really, really stuck
Kaitlyn’s father died when she was young, and her mom was incarcerated for virtually her entire childhood, dying only a few years after her release. Despite growing up in turmoil, Kaitlyn is an amazing young woman and mother—full of love and energy, and determined to break the cycles of violence and poverty for her children
Please join me in helping Kaitlyn make rent for the next few months, feed her family and (with a lot of luck) purchase a modest pre-owned car.
If you prefer to send funds via Venmo, send them to @Krose514 (Kaitlyn Rose) or reach out to me for my Venmo and I’ll immediately send forward the funds to her
Kaitlyn really hasn't asked for much (and didn't ask me to start a GoFundMe), but I like to help where I can and know she deserves a fresh start
Thank you for your help!
