We’re here to support Kai on their journey for gender-affirming care! Kai will receive top surgery at the end of July 2024. While they recover they’ll be unable to work their service industry job and will have zero income. These funds will allow Kai to truly rest while they recover. The money will be put towards rent, food, and medical supplies. Any additional funds will be used to help kickstart Scoone /sku:n/, Kai’s Pop-up Bakery.
Kai is an absolute bright spot in their community, always dancing, cracking jokes, and showing up for others. Let’s show Kai some of the love they pour into us!
More from Kai about Scoone:
At Scoone Pop-up Bakery /sku:n/, I honor my family’s matriarch, Willie Bea Wilson, who continues to nourish, protect, and sustain my family for decades. Scoone has been my maternal grandmother’s nickname for me for as long as I can remember (no one knows where she got it from) and now I get to hear it daily for my business. I owe all my culinary/pastry passion to her.
My entire journey; leaving Detroit, attending pastry school in Chicago, working at Parachute Korean Restaurant, Floriole, and joining the JBF legacy network has been to show my grandmother the sheer weight of her legacy. Scoone’s ethos’ in two words is, “Internationally Local”. I take my innate love of culture, travel, and food to explore the age-old question, “Oh! What about this”, all while keeping seasonality in mind.
Join me as I struggle upward throughout my culinary journey. I’m so glad you popped by Scoone’s Pop-up Bakery.
