Hello all, my name is Zack, I’m a 26 year old dog dad and unfortunately my 6 year old dog, Kaiser, had a life threatening emergency that spanned twice over a two week period. On New Year’s Eve, he got very sick and threw up non stop and would not eat or drink anything. I brought him to the emergency vet that night and they determined that he had wads of fabric in his small intestine. He at this time did not need surgery so they gave him subcutaneous fluids that would help his digestive system push out the fabric. He returned to normal about two days later and was eating, drinking and going to the bathroom. Fast forward 2 weeks later and Kaiser was throwing up a significant amount of blood, losing weight, and not eating again. So back to the emergency vet and Unfortunately the fabric that was inside his intestine did not pass through and only moved to a different part of his digestive system which made his gallbladder almost rupture and caused significant internal bleeding. Kaiser is a very good boy but loves to tear apart his toys and eat parts of them (he is banned from said toys now). We were very lucky to have a successful abdominal surgery yesterday and remove the fabric and whatever else was stuck in his small intestine. Kaiser is now expected to make a full recovery and return to normal but will need to visit the vet a few more times to make sure he has no setbacks/problems with his recovery. Unfortunately with this, it comes with very expensive vet costs that have added up to a point where I have to ask friends and family for financial support. Anyone that knows me or Kaiser knows we would never ask for help unless we needed it. Even the smallest amount or even just sharing with others is much appreciated.
