**Help Kai Fight for Her Health**

Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,

I’m reaching out to share the story of a friends (Gabe Powers) incredible 21-year-old daughter named Kai, who has recently faced a series of overwhelming health challenges. Just a month ago, she underwent surgery for kidney stones, but due to her autoimmune hepatitis, her recovery has been anything but straightforward.

Recently, things took a turn for the worse. After catching a cold, Kai began showing signs of jaundice. While they have seen these symptoms before, her condition escalated quickly. A few weeks ago, her medications were switched, and that seemed to trigger a downward spiral. She started experiencing severe vomiting, fever, and worsening jaundice, prompting for her to rush to the hospital last Saturday, where she was admitted to Geisinger Danville.

Currently, Kai is facing multiple complications. Her liver enzyme levels (ALT and AST) are fluctuating dangerously, and her bilirubin levels are alarmingly high. The doctors are struggling to stabilize her condition, and an EKG has revealed some pressure on her heart, which has now involved a cardiologist. Unfortunately, they are also considering the possibility of a liver transplant, pending the results of an upcoming liver biopsy.

Adding to this already overwhelming situation, Kai is autistic. This makes it crucial for someone to be by her side to help her understand the medical processes, manage her anxiety, and provide the emotional support she needs to cope. Gabe is trying their best to balance a full time job with being there for her, but the demands are becoming increasingly difficult.
