Hi everyone. My name is Sam, and I’m reaching out with the heaviest heart to ask for support during one of the hardest moments of my life.
My dog Kairi, my first dog, my soul pup, is nearing the end of her journey. Her health has been steadily declining, and it’s become clear that it’s time to let her go. She’s no longer eating or drinking much, her hind legs are giving out, and her once-bright energy is now replaced with exhaustion. Even with pain medication, she’s clearly struggling, and I don’t want her to suffer anymore.
Kairi isn’t just a pet. She’s been with me through heartbreak, change, and healing. Born in North Carolina, she moved with me to Michigan after a major turning point in my life. I’ll never forget her first Michigan winter, how she caught snowflakes, rolled in the snow making doggy snow angels, and dug her snoot into snowdrifts like the happiest husky (despite being a Lab/Shepherd mix). Her joy has been one of the brightest lights in my life.
We’ve made the incredibly hard decision to put her to sleep peacefully, surrounded by love. The vet supports this choice and is ready when we are, but the only thing holding us back is the cost. With existing bills, and working on paying off an emergency surgery our other pup needed, money is tight.
We’re trying to raise $600 to cover the cost of the euthanasia, cremation, and allow Kairi to pass without pain or fear. The sooner we can reach this goal, the sooner we can make sure she’s not suffering. Every little bit helps, and even if you can’t donate, just sharing this or sending love means everything to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of Kairi’s final chapter.
