A few months ago, our daughter Kailey woke up with numbness in her legs and an incredible amount of pain in her back. Overnight, her life changed. She was diagnosed with a herniated disc and moderate to severe lumbar spinal stenosis. At just 26 years old, Kailey now relies on a walker/cane, and her doctors are concerned about her long-term mobility and the possibility of paralysis from the waist down.
Kailey has since seen a spine specialist and was referred to physical therapy in hopes of improving her condition without surgery. Unfortunately, during her evaluation, the physical therapist determined that her condition had worsened and that it was unsafe to begin treatment. Because of this, Kailey has now been referred to a neurosurgeon to evaluate the potential need for spinal surgery.
When this first happened, Kailey was between jobs and without health insurance, which delayed her ability to receive care until she could enroll in an ACA plan. Due to her worsening condition and mobility limitations, she has been unable to work while attending medical appointments and focusing on recovery. Kailey lives in West Hollywood, where the cost of living is very high, and even basic monthly expenses add up quickly. Kailey’s basic monthly living expenses include rent, utilities, car payment and insurance, health insurance, groceries, household necessities, and taking care of her two cats. While she navigates serious medical decisions, she needs help covering 3-6 months of essential living costs so she can focus on her health without constant financial stress.
This fundraiser is intended to help cover 3-6 months of essential living expenses while Kailey recovers and determines next steps in her treatment, including the possibility of surgery. Any donation or share truly makes a difference. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Kailey during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for supporting Kailey.
