Kaila Elliott went to the dermatologist a couple of weeks ago to have some moles removed. She didn't think anything of it until she got a phone call a week later telling her the moles were melanoma and she needed surgery to remove them. The surgery included a wide local excision of the melanoma site on her back, 2 MOHs procedures and 2 sentinel lymph node biopsies. After the surgery, she was told the melanoma was in her lymph nodes and it was at least Stage III. Kaila is currently waiting for a PET scan and a treatment plan.
Kaila is a single, 31-year old who started and runs a statewide program in the Gainesville area called Early Childhood Court. It’s a problem solving court for the child welfare system that has specialized services and involvement for the family unit to prioritize reunifying children in a more efficient, long lasting, and timely manner than traditional child welfare.
Please consider donating to this fundraiser to help Kaila down the long, scary road to recovery!
