My name is Kailani and I am a singer songwriter in a genre I call Cinemapop. I am in the pre-production of my first ever music video from my debut album Permission to Feel. My artistic vision for this project centers around these four themes: identity, love, kindness, and acceptance. It is for the hopeless romantics, late bloomers, overthinkers, and the people who have been burying a little too much for a little too long.
My musical identity is something I am still discovering– but if I had to break it down, I’d say I am a songwriter with film scorer tendencies; a lot of sci-fi, ancestral, and narrative storytelling.
With a foundation in screen scoring, a synesthetic ear/eye, and experience as an actor, I seek to bridge the gap between my diverse artistic interests. I am a storyteller, using my work to bring emotion and narrative to life through sound and performance.
This music video I am fundraising for is called Liminal. It is about the space between your comfort zone and newness, when you know that where you are is safe… but you cannot stay if you want to grow. It is the beginning, for myself, of learning to feel.

This music video is the first of a series of 18. Telling at first a falling in love story, but developing into an exploration of the capacity to feel and choose love, for oneself and others. It is about allowing love to exist, in all its forms, and not judge yourself for it.
My cast and crew are a team of young artists from across NYC. We are a group of POC hopeless romantics, experts (nerds), and creators.
