Dearest friends and family of Kaibrina,

My name is Nicole (some of you may know me as Presh) and Kai is one of my long-time, dearest friends. Over the holidays, she was diagnosed with breast cancer (ductal carcinoma). It is early stage and treatable, but she needs our support during this time. While we’re grateful for the hopeful prognosis, treatment still comes with challenges.

If you know Kaibrina, you know she is always the one giving, caring for others, and showing up fully as a friend, daughter, and mom. She is also finishing a master's degree in therapy, so of course, she will be helping others at work.

Kaibrina is planning to do surgery and other conventional treatments. However, for the best success, she is also taking an integrative approach that includes science-based, metabolic therapies, specialized nutrition, and care from one of the leading naturopathic oncology doctors.

As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know firsthand how vital these therapies are—and how quickly out-of-pocket costs can add up. Since they are not covered by insurance, Kai ran a GoFundMe campaign for me while I was on treatment and recovering from it. This financial support helped save my life by lifting that part of the stress off of me and enabling me to focus on healing.

Unfortunately, Kaibrina recently lost her health insurance and is currently getting Medi-Cal coverage only. Many of you may know that she is working as a therapist, without pay, while finish her degree. She is also raising Kahlil as a single mom and preparing to send him off to college. He is doing amazingly well and I am blown away by what a wonderful young man he has grown up to be.

If you know Kaibrina, you can imagine that she is taking this news in stride and staying positive. But the financial timing is not great to say the least, so we are raising funds so she can focus on healing and recovery. These funds will help cover her expenses for upcoming surgery, uncovered treatments, supplements, and supportive care. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward her care and will make a meaningful difference for her and Kahlil.

Dear Friends and Family,

As we pass through this time of great unraveling and systemic upheaval, I want to acknowledge the profound challenges that we are all experiencing collectively and individually. There is so much letting go and simultaneously a need to embrace change and personal transformation. It can feel very overwhelming to be on our own paths and still have the ability to show up for others.

2025 has been such an incredible year for us. Kahlil turned 18 and has been applying to colleges and getting amazing offers. I’ve been finishing my Master's in Counseling Psychology and working as a therapist at a crisis house, serving severely depressed, anxious, and psychotic clients. This month, I’m switching to a hospice center, where I’ll be counseling the dying and their grieving families in my community. I have been gradually stepping into my role as a therapist and really loving this rewarding and challenging work.

How strange it is to get this diagnosis of breast cancer in the midst of all of this. I am doing my best to avoid catastrophic thinking and take this as an opportunity to take my health to the next level. In 2025, I lost 90 lbs and have been experiencing a metamorphosis of mind and body, as much of my physical and emotional armor is being shed. It is from this place of raw vulnerability that I write this and ask for your support.

As most of you know, I’m much more comfortable being in the giving position and taking care of others. But I have accepted that the years of stress and anxiety have taken a toll on me. Over the last five years, I started to soften my defenses and release my illusions of control. The cancer is just another opportunity to commit to healing and loving myself more deeply.

With the guidance of my friend Presh, who healed from cancer during the pandemic, I’m choosing to take a metabolic approach. This will involve a combination of Western interventions and more integrative work with a naturopathic doctor and nutritional coach. Obviously, insurance will only cover things like diagnosis, surgery, and radiation. I’m hoping to avoid invasive treatments other than the surgery and will use herbs, supplements, and food to make my body inhospitable to future development of cancer cells. Luckily, it was detected early and I’m told it’s “very treatable.”

I am so grateful that my own work with healing plants gives me access to the highest quality medicines available. I have assisted several friends who have been diagnosed with later stages of cancer and most of them responded very well to a mix of standard cancer treatment and holistic remedies. I have faith in the medicines I craft and in my friends who tend the plants with love. Now it’s my turn to receive the potent medicine of these flowers and other healing plant extracts.

I welcome your prayers, blessings, words of encouragement, and any monetary gifts that feel comfortable to offer. I love you all and recognize that some of you are struggling financially and cannot send monetary gifts. If this is the case, please send me your loving thoughts and visualize light surrounding and filling my body as my healing journey progresses. Please don’t worry about me. I’m going to be fine. In fact, I’m going to be fantastic. Although my breasts may be smaller, I expect that my heart will be fuller than ever.
