Support Kahlo's Fight for Life
Donation protected
My dog Kahlo means everything to me. I rescued him four years ago, and he’s been my constant companion, emotional support, and daily joy. What we’re going through now is devastating, and I’m humbly reaching out for help.
A few weeks ago, Kahlo began showing troubling signs: he was grazing on grass constantly, coughing, and gagging as if trying to vomit—but nothing came up. A vet diagnosed him with kennel cough, despite being fully vaccinated and not around other dogs. He seemed better briefly, but within a few weeks, his appetite disappeared, his energy plummeted, and he began showing more alarming symptoms. We’ve since seen multiple vets, undergone scans, tests, and procedures, and spent thousands trying to figure out what’s wrong.
After being dismissed by one specialty clinic that kept delaying diagnostics, I finally found a compassionate vet who was willing to work within a limited budget. Kahlo underwent abdominal surgery and biopsies of an enlarged lymph node and his ileum 3 days ago. We’re now in a painful wait for the biopsy results.
Kahlo is only four years old. He should be out playing and enjoying life. Instead, he’s recovering from surgery, on medications, and struggling. I’ve spent nearly $10,000 and maxed out every option I had. I’m doing everything possible to keep him comfortable and fighting, but the road ahead—whether it's cancer, a severe infection, or something else—is uncertain and possibly expensive.
If you’ve ever loved an animal like family, you’ll understand why I’m doing this. Any donation, no matter the size, will help cover Kahlo’s medical expenses and any additional diagnostics or treatment he may need to survive.
we are going to the vet again tomorrow to get his 2 nd B12 shot and a dental check up. I think something is going on with his mouth.
i pray so.. as it would hopefully resolve the issue. I’m still very worried.. and we are down to the wire and need to leave soon.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for considering a donation to help save Kahlo’s life.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Helene & Kahlo
