Support Kahdija's Journey to Tribeca Festival

This is hard to do but here goes-

My artwork, design and music will be shown in the film “The Other, Gold” at Tribeca Festival this year. THIS IS A HUGE OPPORTUNITY! My immense efforts have paid off and this is a networking lotto I need help to take full advantage of. If you're interested read more below!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Kahdija-a working visual artist, designer and musician who services my community directly through my skills in illustration, graphic design, fine art, content creation, and music production/song-writing.

After performing my music for my mom’s birthday party two years ago, I was approached excitedly by Sharaé Nikai and David Lassiter about placing tracks of mine into the film they were directing. I agreed, happy to support a familiar face and poc/woc independent filmmakers while introducing my songs to new ears, even if the budget wasn't there to compensate me fully. The more we talked, the more Sharaé and David asked for: Since I was placing music, what about my fine art? I obliged happily!

A second request rolled in: Would I like to do the film’s poster? I couldn’t refuse the opportunity. Posters were one of my first inspirations for wanting to design, and acting drew me in to theater as a child. I responded with a resounding “Absolutely”!

Now, it’s been officially announced that their film The Other, Gold is one of 108 selected from over 13,000 submissions for a world premiere at Tribeca Festival this year. Wow is an understatement!

This is the largest platform my fine art, music and design has currently been showcased on and I would be remiss to skip the opportunity to represent myself and my skills in person-but to do so I need help.

Donations will cover travel costs to New York, lodging near Tribeca, tickets for the screenings, inner-city travel costs and a budget for food for two. Having my mom-the person who made all of this possible-is integral to me personally, as I will need the emotional and physical support during this trip.
