Help Support Kaha’s Fight Against Meningitis
Kaha is a healthy, active 20-year-old who recently graduated from Universal Technical Institute, where he earned his certification as a Diesel Mechanic. He has been working hard to build his future and had his whole life ahead of him.
Three weeks ago, everything changed. What started as headaches and neck pain quickly turned into a nightmare. After multiple urgent care and ER visits, he was finally diagnosed with meningitis. On Friday, he was life-flighted from Hilo to O‘ahu for advanced care due to being at high risk for seizures. Unfortunately, on Monday, our worst fear came true — he suffered several seizures, a small stroke, and was placed in an induced coma to help protect his brain and control swelling.
Kaha has now been in the ICU for several days as doctors work to control the swelling and infection in his brain. We’ve received some encouraging signs, but he is still not out of the woods.
This sudden medical crisis has turned our world upside down. My husband is our sole provider and has had to take time away from work to be by Kaha’s side. Between travel to O‘ahu, lost wages, and the unknown length of his hospitalization and recovery, we are facing overwhelming expenses.
Any donation, no matter the size, will help cover medical bills, travel costs, and the support Kaha will need as he begins his long road to recovery. If you are unable to give financially, please share his story and keep him in your prayers. Every bit of support means the world to us.
Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
